The controversial call that ended the Mets' 1-0 loss to the Cubs last Wednesday made waves across the league last week. Neither the plate umpire nor the replay official called player interference on Chicago catcher Miguel Amaya for having his foot on the plate as he tagged out Pete Alonso at home to end the game with a double-play. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred commented on the play APSE Commissioners Meetings at MLB headquarters in New York on Monday. “We feel very comfortable that the rule was applied correctly,” Manfred said.
