Young fan’s sweet gesture to Starling Marte

Young fan’s sweet gesture to Starling Marte

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte has been a key player for the franchise that is on the verge of its first winning season since 1992. Unfortunately, the 24-year-old is currently on the disabled list with a sprained finger. But that didn't stop a young fan from providing one of the sweetest gestures you'll see at a ballpark.

An unidentified Buccos supporter presented a handmade picture of Marte to the recovering player prior to Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. It said "Get Better Starling". Marte was so taken by the artwork, he taped it up in the dugout next to the lineup card. Nice move — by both parties.

Moving to basketball news, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant continued his summer rehab from Achilles surgery by jumping off a high dive. The Black Mamba posted a Vine of the thrilling moment on his Twitter account:

And Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was officially medically cleared to play in the team's season opener September 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
