College World Series foul ball leads to teachable moment

What happens when you combine a foul ball with a group of elementary school-aged kids? Utter chaos.

In a scenario many parents can identify with, a little girl got a souvenir at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha during a College World Series game between Mississippi State and Indiana Monday night. But that was only the beginning. Little did Bulldogs right fielder Hunter Renfroe know that when he casually tossed a foul ball into the stands, he was instigating a pint-sized riot. First, the lucky young lady screamed with excitement at her new prize. Then, she held it at arm's length, away from her gaggle of fellow youngsters, each just wanting to touch the ball. While they continued to paw at her, she accidentally threw an elbow that caused another child's beverage to splash up in his face, causing him to start crying. The whole scene was like something out of a bad sitcom. The lesson: if you catch a foul ball, don't make such a big deal about it!

In Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, Tuukka Rask made 28 saves and the Boston Bruins got goals from Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron to shut out the Chicago Blackhawks 2-0.

Meanwhile, Chad Johnson was released from jail after serving only a week of a 30-day sentence. Judge Kathleen McHugh accepted the former NFL wide receiver's apology after his courtroom antics last week.
