Wimbledon, Day 6: Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic cruise into the fourth round
It was the final round of the first week at Wimbledon, but it wasn't much of a match after the first point began. Serena Williams took out Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-2, 6-0 in just over a hour, hitting 28 winners in a dominating match that most thought would swing the American's way.
Novak Djokovic had a rather tidy match himself. The No. 1 seed had just three unforced errors in his entire third round match against Jeremy Chardy of France, beating him 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16. Djokovic has yet to be broken at Wimbledon and will face Tommy Haas on Monday.
American Sloane Stephens continues her great run in the 2013 majors, advancing to the fourth round at Wimbledon thanks to a great three set win over Petra Cetkovska. It wasn't the best match by Stephens, who didn't win a game in the second set, but she pulled it together in the third set to advance to her third straight fourth round in Grand Slams.
The best chance for an English champion coming from the home country is still alive, as Laura Robson was able to sneak past Marina Erakovic 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Robson is the first British woman to make it to the fourth round at Wimbledon since Sam Smith did so in 1998.
It was supposed to be an easier third round match for No. 4 David Ferrer, but Alexandr Dolgopolov would not budge for the first four sets. Ferrer eventually won 6-7 (8), 7-6 (7), 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, but it felt tighter even in the fifth set before a break in the seventh game let Ferrer serve for the match.
Ferrer has been playing some great tennis this season, making his first Grand Slam final at the French Open, and with a host of big names getting bounced early at Wimbledon, it's a real shot for Ferrer to make it deep into this tournament. This match, which went the distance, was a tough one but might end up being a good thing for the Spaniard as the second week kicks off.
Bernard Tomic, who has been in the headlines this season for a host of non-tournament wins, had a big upset in his third round match on Saturday, taking out No. 9 Richard Gasquet 7-6 (9), 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7).
Tomic hasn't made it to the fourth round since the 2012 Australian Open, but his 19 aces and 81 percent of first serves has him going up against another favorite, Tomas Berdych, in the fourth round.

Wimbledon doesn't allow the player to have much of a personality with her wardrobe, but Serena's socks were a bit of color, and fun, that we enjoyed.
Well, at least Aerosmith would approve.
Sunday is a day of rest at Wimbledon, so tennis is moved to what they call "Manic Monday" with just every big name you want set to play as the second week at Wimbledon kicks off.
