Kings talking to Darryl Sutter

The Los Angeles Kings need a head coach since the team fired Terry Murray on Monday, and Darryl Sutter is apparently on their list.

The Kings have officially sought permission from Calgary to speak with Sutter about the job, ESPN reports. He is still collecting paychecks from the Flames, where he was fired from as general manager last season. Sutter has coached the Flames, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks. He compiled a 409-320-101 record and took the Flames to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004.

The request to speak with Sutter came on Sunday, the site notes, a day before Murray was canned.

Sutter, of course, is one of seven brothers, six of whom played in the National Hockey League.
