Flyers’ James van Riemsdyk hearing name in rumors

Philadelphia Flyers left wing James van Riemsdyk is in his third season in the NHL and there's something he's experiencing for the first time: being the subject of trade rumors.

And he doesn't like it. The Philadelphia Daily News reports that the 22-year-old New Jersey native is hearing his name a lot this week as the team takes a Canadian swing to play the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames. According to the paper, his name "has been linked to" the Columbus Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks.

And why not? The guy put in seven goals in 11 games during last year's playoffs. He has 11 goals and 13 assists so far this season, along with a bunch of injuries.

"It's clear that Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren hasn't exactly hung up the phone when the conversation turns his way," the paper notes.
