Mississippi cheerleaders host best insult of the season on playoff run-through sign
The sign you see above was used by Walnut (Miss.) High before its state playoff game against Coahoma Agricultural High in Clarksdale. It was brought to Prep Rally's attention by USA Today, and originally hit Twitter thanks to user @KingSedlar.
With Walnut entering the game as heavy favorites, the school's cheerleading squad decided it was safe using the traditional pregame run-through sign as an outlet to poke fun at Coahoma.
To do so, the Walnut sign simply told the Clarksdale school its players should think about making plans for the following Friday, because they wouldn't need to hit a football field. Needless to say, the heavy dose of "Ya'll" both serves as a geographic reference point (you won't see this sign in Connecticut) and a tribute to occasional signage mistakes. After all, if y'all was a word, the apostrophe would come after the "y", not the "a."
For anyone curious, Walnut lived up to its cheerleaders confidence and the Coahama players will indeed be free this Friday night. The final score of the first round game between the two schools was Walnut 32, Coahoma Agricultural 8.
