Wayne Gretzky gave Dustin Johnson ‘clean up or no Paulina’ ultimatum

Wayne Gretzky gave Dustin Johnson ‘clean up or no Paulina’ ultimatum

Golfer Dustin Johnson is engaged to Paulina Gretzky. Dustin Johnson is also taking a leave of absence from the PGA Tour. Golf.com said it was a six-month suspension for a positive cocaine test. The PGA denied that, but then again it denied a previous situation in which Johnson was reportedly suspended as well.

All of this is straight out of the handbook for “How Not To Impress Your Soon-To-Be Father In Law,” and FOX411 reports that Wayne Gretzky drew the line for Johnson, who luckily has some experience with them:

Sources tell FOX411 that the hockey great previously talked to Johnson – who is engaged to his 25-year-old model daughter, Paulina – cautioning him to clean up his act, or the wedding was off. We’re told that the family was aware of his penchant for partying, and that Wayne sought to be a positive influence, and offer help.

Johnson and Gretzky started dating in 2012 and got engaged in August 2013. In January, it was announced that the two were planning a Fall 2014 wedding, but in May, Gretzky told Golf Digest that they had postponed the ceremony, citing Johnson’s busy schedule.

Representatives for Wayne and Paulina Gretzky did not respond to comment requests.

Wayne Gretzky has had to step in before when it comes to Paulina’s choices, attempting to reel in her social media use back when tantalizing Paulina Gretzky photos appeared on Twitter about as often as @Midnight hashtag games.

This situation, of course, is a little more dire, given the couple’s marriage plans. The good news is that it seems that Johnson hasn’t been given the blow off, as The Golf Channel reports he’s hanging with Paulina and her family at a resort in Northern Idaho.

Here’s hoping these crazy kids can figure things out and make it work. And that Wayne can give his son-in-law some advice about separating your partying from your profession, as only a former member of the 1980s Edmonton Oilers dynasty can.
