Ryan Garbutt goes knee-on-knee on Taylor Hall; suspension worthy? (Video)

Ryan Garbutt tormented Taylor Hall every time he had the chance in the Dallas Stars’ game vs. the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. He’s a pest, Hall’s a star; it’s expected.

Less expected was the knee Garbutt stuck out to clip Hall with just under eight minutes left in the third period, sending Hall flying to the ice. His linemates Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle immediately went over to Garbutt to … well, considering who we’re talking about here, we’ll just assume they threatened to call over one of their bigger friends and/or litigation.

Garbutt was given just a 2-minute minor for “tripping.” Hall remained in the game, and actually took his own minor for hooking 11 seconds later. Dallas won the game, 3-2.

Said Hall after the game, via Gene Principe: "I know guys who know him. He's not that kind of player but I would liked to have seen more than two minutes."

He still might. Garbutt is a repeat offender, having received five games for charging Dustin Penner on Oct. 23, 2013 and just over $1,400 for spearing Corey Perry on April 25 of this year.

In his favor? Hall apparently wasn’t injured on the play. Not in his favor? Pretty much everything else, from his leg stretch to his priors.
