Rangers double lead again 11 seconds after Kings score (Video)
Willie Mitchell had an entire 11 seconds to celebrate his first playoff goal since April 2012. The Los Angeles Kings defenseman scored a power play goal to cut the New York Rangers' lead to 3-2 late in the second period.
It was kind of a big deal for Mitchell, who has now scored four times in 86 career playoff games. But moments later, Mitchell would go from smiling to frowning after his miscommunication with Jonathan Quick helped the Rangers double their lead yet again:
Poor Willie. Quick tries to slow down the puck and it ends up popping up in the air over Mitchell's stick, opening the door for Marty St. Louis to find Derick Brassard in front.
According to ESPN Stats and Info, the two goals were the third fastest in Stanley Cup Final history, with the previous two coming in 1936 and 1947.
But later in the game -- double overtime to be exact -- Mitchell would be smiling yet again. His shot from the point was deflected by Kings captain Dustin Brown to give LA a 5-4 victory and 2-0 series lead.
