Puck Daddy’s 2015 NHL Trade Deadline Live Blog, Hour 4

1:55 p.m. ET: The Islanders stay active and upgrade their backup goalie spot by nabbing Michal Neuvirth from the Buffalo Sabres for Chad Johnson and a conditional third-round pick in 2016. Tim Murray sees your tank, Don Maloney, and just raised the game. Johnson has struggled in New York, and has posted an .904 even-strength save percentage in 17 starts this season, compared to the .932 ESVP he put up a year ago in Boston. Neuvirth, who was acquired for now-crease partner Jaroslav Halak at last year's deadline, has played well for a tanking Sabres club, recording a .934 ESVP in 27 starts.

1:40 p.m. ET: Another deal goes down with Ian Cole heading from the St. Louis Blues to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Robert Bortuzzo and a 2016 seventh-rounder. Both are set to become UFAs this summer. Bortuzzo will provide some insurance while Zbynek Michalek deals with a concussion. Cole has the better game and could fit in nicely for the Penguins, who were looking to add to their blueline.

1:25 p.m. ET: The Islanders add to their forward depth by acquiring Tyler Kennedy from the San Jose Sharks for a conditional third-round pick in 2016, according to Pierre LeBrun. Kennedy is a pending UFA.

1:20 p.m. ET: According to Eric Stephens, an extension for Anaheim Ducks forward Matt Beleskey isn't coming today, which will fuel the rumors already surrounding him. Beleskey is having a career season with 21 goals and 30 points through 56 games. What team looking for offensive punch will make Bob Murray the right offer?

1:15 p.m. ET: The trade deadline isn't all nervous moments for players. Some like to have fun, like former NHLer Jay McKee:

1:10 p.m. ET: Cam Atkinson is still out there and the pending free agent could be one of the final deals in this last hour before the deadline. Columbus is in sell-mode with several players set to become UFAs this summer. According to Aaron Portzline, the Boston Bruins are interested and with Atkinson's camp unable to come to an agreement on an extension, the soon-to-be RFA is probably as good as gone.

1:05 p.m. ET: Could Antti Niemi be on the move? Kevin Weekes says that the San Jose Sharks are aggressively shopping the netminder. If GM Doug Wilson (or whoever is going to be the general manager next season) is starting the rebuild retooling of the franchise, goaltender is the place to start. Niemi is a free agent this summer and Alex Stalock is signed through next season. San Jose is five points out of the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. Is the white flag in the air?

Meanwhile, in Ottawa, they have some names who could be moved before 2 p.m. ET today. Patrick Wiercioch's name has been out there and his being signed through next year and owed $2.7 million may make some teams up against the cap skiddish. His fancy stats are great, and Ottawa might be wiser to hang on to the 24-year old defenseman.

1 p.m. ET: We have a trade to announce! The Chicago Blackhawks send Ben Smith to the San Jose Sharks for Andrew Desjardins. The Sharks will retain 50-percent salary on the rest of Desjardins' contract. Is this a forward-thinking move by Stan Bowman? Smith is signed through next season while Desjardins will be a UFA this summer. Chicago needs to make moves this summer, between trades and new contracts (hello, Brandon Saad!). This move will help.
