Panthers’ Eric Selleck suspended two games after fight he definitely lost (VIDEO)
Florida Panthers' tough guy Eric Selleck's first fight didn't go so well.
Called up from the San Antonio Rampage to add toughness, Selleck did as he was expected in his debut versus the Carolina Hurricanes, going after Kevin Westgarth and dropping the gloves for the first time 17:02 of the third period.
For his troubles, Selleck earned 17 minutes in penalties with an instigator and a game misconduct tacked onto the five for fighting. Then, on Wednesday, the punishments continued. Not only did Selleck earn an automatic one-game suspension for instigating a scrap in the final five minutes, but the Department of Player Safety doubled the ban, tacking on a second game because Selleck left the bench with the sole purpose of starting a fight. To make matters worse, the fight that will cost Selleck two games really wasn't worth it.
Before he was punished by the Department of Player Safety on Wednesday, before he was punished by the officiating crew Tuesday (and despite the fact that he broke a lot of rules to get the upper hand) Selleck was punished by Kevin Westgarth:
On the bright side, he'll now have a little more time to brush up on his pugilism skills, which it would seem is something he needs to do.
