Illinois farm creates A-MAIZE-ING Blackhawks corn maze (Photo)
Have to hand it to Blackhawks fans. They sure do know how to celebrate their team. Last week we had the guy who tattooed the logo on his head. Now we have the world's largest corn maze commemorating the champs.
Each year, the Richardson Adventure Farm creates a corn maze with a different theme. Located in Spring Grove, Illinois, the farm initially had another design in mind when the Blackhawks captured the Cup. Over the Fourth of July weekend, the Richardson family opted to change the 30-acre maze, with the Blackhawks permission, of course.
"So we called our maze designer out in Idaho and asked if he had time to create a new design," said George Richardson. "Then we got permission from the Blackhawks to use their logo. The result is a bold design with the Blackhawks logo in the center and the Chicago skyline in the background, flanked by two hockey players and the word "Champions."
Bold indeed. There are four different trails participants can venture down starting August 29th.
Anyone else thinking this would be a great team building activity for the Blackhawks once training camp rolls around? Money on Andrew Shaw to slash his way through the corn. He's good at that...mazes.
This isn't the first time corn has been sacrificed in order to celebrate Chicago's Stanley Cup. In 2013, two smaller farms created Blackhawks championship mazes.
