UAB has special helmets to honor the rebuilding effort from tornado destruction two years ago

For UAB, remembering the destruction and tragedy from the outbreak of tornadoes that swept through Alabama two years ago, and the way the state came together after that, is important.

The people of Alabama rebuilt after that tragedy, although the rebuilding work is still not finished. UAB's spring game was on the two-year anniversary of the tornado outbreak, and the Blazers wanted to recognize how the people of the state rebounded from that destruction.

The result was a simple and symbolic "4-27-11" helmet logo for the spring game.

Of all the special uniforms and helmets we'll see for spring games, there won't be many more poignant that this one. While that day it not something Alabama wants to remember, the rebuilding effort is definitely something to be proud of.
