Two Longhorns suspended for Thanksgiving game with Texas Tech

Texas will be without one of its most dangerous offensive weapons when the Longhorns host Texas Tech on Thanksgiving. Coach Mack Brown announced Thursday that running back Daje Johnson and fullback Chet Moss have been suspended due to a violation of team rules.

Johnson is the Longhorns’ primary punt returner and a big play threat every time he touches the ball on offense, but this is the second suspension for the sophomore in his career. He was first suspended for the season opener last season, also for a violation of team rules.

This year, Johnson has accounted for 121 rushing yards on 22 attempts and 168 receiving yards on 22 receptions and two touchdowns this year. He also returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown against Oklahoma but has been unproductive in recent weeks.

Moss, a junior, was converted to fullback after his freshman year and has mainly contributed for the Longhorns on special teams.
