Texas Tech QB Baker Mayfield really impressed his teammates with his Dougie skills (Video)

There are few things a true freshman walk-on quarterback can do to impress his teammates more than throw five touchdowns in his first game.

One of those things? Being able to do The Dougie.

Texas Tech quarterback Baker Mayfield won the starting quarterback job in preseason practice after sophomore Michael Brewer was sidelined with a back injury. In his debut against SMU, the former Lake Travis High School QB hardly looked like a walk-on, completing 43 of 60 passes for 413 yards and those five TDs -- earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors in the process.

But he really enamored his teammates with his Dougie performance at karaoke night during one of those preseason practices. The Dougie is a hip hop dance popularized by the Cali Swag District and according to Wikipedia, first originated in Dallas, Texas.

From Fox Sports Southwest:

"I'm just going to be honest, I'd never seen a white kid do the Dougie. Like, at all," linebacker Pete Robertson said. "When he did the Dougie, I'm just like, ‘Is he really doing this right now?' He killed it."

Yes, he did. Those are some epic moves in the video above.

Mayfield's performance Friday night -- in the football game, not karaoke night -- might have also earned him a scholarship. On Monday, Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury said that the administration was working to get him on scholarship.
