Texas A&M freshman QB arrested then poses for shirtless mugshot

Johnny Manziel isn't helping his cause in the race to be Texas A&M's new starting quarterback.

The freshman, who emerged as one of the two leading candidates to replace Ryan Tannehill, was arrested early Friday morning and charged with disorderly conduct by fighting, failure to identify and having a fake driver's license.

Police on bicycle patrol noticed a fight between two men around 2 a.m. and, after breaking it up, asked Manziel for identification. He handed police a fake ID that stated he was 21 years old. Police spotted the ID as a fake and, after a search, found two other driver's licenses — one fake and one real.

As of Friday morning, Manziel remained in Brazos County Jail in lieu of $6,435 bail.

But the best part of Manziel's arrest — other than him giving the cops a fake ID — was perhaps his shirtless mugshot, which quickly made the rounds on the Internet and was ripe for mocking. I know, his shirt was probably torn or something like that, but this is a rare find. I wonder if he's been sitting in jail this entire time without a shirt? Probably made him pretty popular with the other inmates. And if they gave him a shirt, why couldn't he have worn that shirt for this mugshot? Just seems like a gratuitous shirtless photo.

So, Manziel has achieved Internet legend status for one of the best mugshots ever before he even takes a snap. Congratulations young man.

With Manziel in the doghouse, fellow quarterbacking competitors Jameill Showers, Matt Joeckel and Matt Davis are left to fight over the starting quarterback role.
