TCU returned an onside kick for a touchdown against SMU (Video)
After a Garrett Gilbert touchdown pass reduced SMU’s deficit to 34-17 on the road at TCU with just 3:20 to go, the Mustangs, looking to get the ball back, smartly followed with an onside kick.
It did not go as planned.
SMU kicker Chase Hover booted a one-hopper directly into the bread basket of TCU receiver LaDarius Brown who scampered untouched 45 yards for a touchdown and squashed any chance of an SMU comeback. Coach Gary Patterson said he'd never seen such a return before.

The Horned Frogs added another late touchdown on a 66-yard pick-six by Sam Carter and went on to cruise to a 48-17 victory in Fort Worth. Though after the game, Patterson said that his team would have to play better if it wanted to compete in the Big 12.

The win improved TCU’s record to 2-2 (1-1 Big 12). SMU dropped to 1-3.
