Rebels offensive lineman Park Stevens, 20, was killed in a car accident Wednesday afternoon, according to a report by USA TODAY.
In a statement on the Ole Miss football Facebook page, Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze confirmed the loss:
“Our team is hurting tonight with the loss of Park. He was a tremendous young man that was loved by his teammates and coaches, and Rebel Nation will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stevens’ family, his friends, our team and all those he touched during his life.”
Stevens joined the Ole Miss program as a walk-on this spring after transferring from East Central Community College. He reportedly crashed into the rear wheels of a semi that was crossing a four-lane highway in Chickasaw County, Miss.
Stevens' coach and teammates took to Twitter to offer their condolences:
Our Rebel family and team are so saddened at the loss of one of our teammates, Park Stevens. May God be with his family and our team
