Oklahoma State RB dismissed after attempting to steal from a teammate
Running back Hershel Sims was dismissed from Oklahoma State last week for a violation of team rules, but on Tuesday we learned it was because he was trying to steal from one of his teammates.
The Tulsa World reported that Sims has been charged with two felony counts of second-degree forgery after he made out phony banks slips — one for $500 and one for $200 — to withdraw money from the bank account of linebacker Jeremiah Tshimanga.
Now, that's being a good teammate.
On May 18, Tshimanga reported to campus police that his identification card was stolen, taken to Stillwater National Bank on April 27 and used to withdraw money from his account twice, according to an incident report.
Tshimanga told police that when he noticed money was missing from his account, he contacted the bank and through the bank's investigation was able to identify the suspect. Tshimanga said he confronted the suspect and asked for the money back, and the suspect confessed but has failed to repay him, the report states.
Sims played in the final nine games for the Cowboys and rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns, but was third on the depth chart this year behind juniors Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith. He was the first-ever five-star recruit to start for the Cowboys right out of high school.
