Navy paints Arizona State’s mountainside ‘A’ in navy colors

Navy usually saves its pranks for the weeks leading up to the Army game, but some supporters couldn’t resist showing their school spirit for the upcoming Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl game against Arizona State.

So, in grandiose Navy fashion, fans climbed (or perhaps repelled from a helicopter) onto Arizona State’s A Mountain and pained the infamous “A” navy blue and added the words “GO NAVY” across the letter.

It’s actually quite impressive, but not surprising considering these were probably Midshipmen who are skilled at climbing things like mountains in stealthy ways.

The two teams have never met, so Arizona State didn’t know that it had to protect the "A" like it does in other big games. Earlier this year, Oregon fans made their way up the mountain and painted the A green.

Unfortunately, Navy’s hard work was worth only a few hours of daylight enjoyment. Arizona State students quickly painted over the Navy paint the day it was discovered.
