Jadeveon Clowney says he dozed off during a recruiting visit from Nick Saban

Jadeveon Clowney was the top overall recruit coming out of the 2011 class and had scholarship offers from schools all across the country, including from Alabama and Nick Saban.

Saban was on his way to reeling in the top-ranked class for the third time in four years, but Clowney apparently wasn’t interested.

According to a new book, “Saban: The Making of a Coach,” Clowney said he was “dozing off” when Saban visited his home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in December 2010.

From The State:

“I don’t see no big deal like everybody else. They’d say, ‘He’s the king of all of football.’ The guy ain’t nothing but 5-5. He’s a short guy. Everybody’s going crazy on Nick Saban.

“He talked the whole time he was there. I was dozing off. He can talk. A lot. He talked for a whole straight hour.”

Clowney went on to sign with South Carolina and later was selected first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft.
