Former Houston QB John O'Korn says he's transferring to Michigan

Former Houston quarterback John O’Korn is headed to the Big Ten.

A month after declaring his intent to transfer, O’Korn announced on Twitter that he will join Jim Harbaugh’s program at Michigan.

O’Korn, who recently finished his sophomore season with the Cougars, was granted his release by new head coach Tom Herman after he was hired to replace Tony Levine.

O’Korn began the 2014 season as the team’s starting quarterback but was benched in favor of converted wide receiver Greg Ward Jr. In six games, O’Korn threw for 951 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2014.

His sophomore season was a step back from his standout true freshman season in which the 6-foot-4, 220-pound O’Korn threw for 3,117 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. O'Korn was a Rivals three-star recruit in the class of 2013.

He’ll likely have to sit out the 2015 season with the Wolverines due to NCAA transfer rules. He joins a Michigan quarterback group that includes junior Shane Morris, redshirt freshman Wilton Speight and four-star signees Zach Gentry and Alex Malzone.
