Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves suffers bone bruise after scuffle during practice (Updated)

** UPDATE **

Florida coach Will Muschamp wanted to clarify that it was not a fight that caused Hargreaves injury, but a knee-to-knee collission that happened before the brawl of which Hargreaves subsequently limped out.

Regardless of how the injury happened, Muschamp noted that he was not a fan of fighting on the field and that he won't tolerate it, saying he will kick players out of practice if he has to.

**ORIGINAL POST **

Florida’s 2013 was a trainwreck because of injuries and its 2014 is starting in a similar fashion.

Star cornerback Vernon Hargreaves was carted off the field Thursday with a bone bruise. Coach Will Muschamp said Hargreaves is listed day-to-day.

What's worse is how the injury occurred.

Hargreaves was participating in a tackling drill between receivers and defensive backs, when it turned into a brawl. Hargreaves came out of the pile limping and while he was initially able to put weight on his injured leg, soon he needed help to get to the locker room and ice was applied to his knee.

Everyone in attendance surely thought the worst considering Florida's rash of injury luck lately. But, as of right now, it seems like Hargreaves will be fine.

Hargreaves started 10 games for the Gators last season and had 38 tackles with 11 pass breakups and three interceptions. Hargreaves was a First Team All-SEC and Third Team All-American player as a true freshman.

He was one of the few bright spots for the Gators during a dismal 4-8 season.

If Hargreaves is gone for an extended time, Florida will work with freshmen Nick Washington or Duke Dawson to fill the void.
