BYU QB Taysom Hill leaves game with fractured left leg (GIF)

BYU had an awful first half against Utah State Friday night. Not only did the undefeated Cougars fall behind 28-14 at home to the 2-2 Aggies, starting quarterback Taysom Hill – a Heisman Trophy contender – went down with a fractured left leg.

The injury occurred when the 6-foot-2, 232-pound Hill sprinted to the right on a second down play and was taken down awkwardly from behind. When going down to the ground, Hill’s left leg was caught underneath Utah State safety Brian Suite.

Hill was able to get up, but was unable to put much weight, if any, on his left leg. He was immediately tended to by trainers and carted off into the locker room soon after.

With Hill out, the No. 18 Cougars were upset by the Aggies, 35-20. The Cougars' backup quarterback, Christian Stewart, completed just 10-of-29 passes for 172 yards and three interceptions in the loss.

The injury is a huge blow for the Cougars – a team that had hopes of an undefeated season and a spot in the first-ever College Football Playoff.
