Arizona State mascot Sparky the Sun Devil gets a Disney makeover

Arizona State wanted to create a happier, friendly devil mascot to appeal to children, so it called upon Disney to help.

The result is that Sparky the Sun Devil got a makeover.

Arizona State announced the new look, and said now Sparky can appeal to younger audiences in many ways, including "comic books, children's books and animated productions." Can't wait for that Sun Devil Pixar movie. It's gonna blow "WALL-E" out of the water.

ASU's press release said it let students work alongside some of Disney's top artists, illustrators, designers and business executives, which is a very cool part of the project.

As for Sparky, he looks more ... well, Disney. This is what Woody from "Toy Story" would have looked like had he been born a devil. So I guess the school got what it wanted.

Here's another picture from Tom Story's gallery posted on ASU's official site from the unveiling, and look at the smile on Sparky's face (although he might just be smiling from the company he was keeping), with a picture of the old Sparky underneath it:

What's the verdict: Old Sparky, or new Disney Sparky?
