4 Kentucky players suspended for shooting BB guns on campus

Kentucky quarterback Drew Barker, wideout Dorian Baker, defensive end Tymere Dubose and running back Stanley Williams are suspended for Saturday's game against South Carolina.

The four were suspended for a violation of team rules after an incident involving BB guns on campus Sunday night. All types of firearms are banned on Kentucky's campus.

From CatsIllustrated.com:

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said earlier on Monday that he'd been notified of the possibility that persons of interest in Sunday night's on-campus incident - which included a report of possible shots fired - were wearing UK football-issued shirts.

UK police received calls at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday about possible shots fired outside the Kirwan-Blanding residence hall complex on UK's South Campus, according to a release.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of college-aged students dressed in dark attire leaving the area, heading into the construction zone around Woodland Glen residence halls. UK and Lexington police advised residents on UK's South Campus to stay in their rooms while an investigation was conducted. Police declared the area all clear shortly after 11:30 p.m.

UK police recovered three BB guns from the incident and identified the persons of interest Monday. The four were then suspended.

"Proper conduct is emphasized as a core value of our program," Stoops said in a release "If we have a situation in which someone who does not act according to our standards, we hold him accountable."

After meeting with the county attorney, UK police will then bring the matter to the school's office of student affairs, which will then determine if the four players are to face student code of conduct charges.

All four players are freshmen. Williams leads the team in all-purpose yardage. He has 101 rushing yards and 105 yards on kickoff returns and five catches for 75 yards. Baker has 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. Dubose and Barker, who was a four-star recruit and the top player in the state in the class of 2014, haven't played this year.
