Joe Biden called Syracuse’s Tyler Ennis to congratulate him on his game-winning shot

In addition to all the messages Tyler Ennis received from his friends and family after his buzzer beater Wednesday night that kept Syracuse unbeaten, the freshman guard also got a call he probably wasn't expecting.

It was from Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden, who received his law school degree from Syracuse, called Ennis on Thursday to congratulate him on his "amazing 35-foot buzzer beater," according to the vice president's official Twitter account. The tweet also included a photograph of Biden at his desk while on the phone with Ennis.

This isn't the first time Biden has shown his devotion to Syracuse basketball this winter either. A photo of him fist pumping while clad in an orange "Beat Duke" T-shirt appeared on the vice president's official Twitter account on the eve of Syracuse's matchup with the Blue Devils earlier this month.

Syracuse is one of two college basketball teams Biden supports, the other being his undergraduate alma mater, the University of Delaware.

Would Biden root for the Orange or the Blue Hens if they met head-to-head? That's not a question likely to be answered this season. The only way they could meet would be in the NCAA tournament, and while the Blue Hens could be the favorites to qualify from the CAA next month, they'd be unlikely to receive a No. 15 or 16 seed that could put them in position to face Syracuse in the opening round.
