Video: Greg Monroe has clearly been practicing his layups

It's a safe bet that few NBA fans are shedding tears or rending garments over the demise of the All-Star weekend HORSE contest at the tender age of 2. But won't somebody please think of Greg Monroe(notes)? Unbeknownst to the masses, the Detroit Pistons rookie has been working on a bevy of unique shots in case he got the call to participate this year.

There's no telling if we'll see the rest of his repertoire as the season progresses, but the move he showcased during Wednesday night's victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers — a crafty "lose the handle, hit yourself in the face, lose the handle again and slap the ball through the hoop" layup — probably would have given even two-time defending champ Kevin Durant(notes) an "H." Very sharp signature move, a la "Lakers versus Celtics and the NBA Playoffs."
