Reports: Kevin Harvick unburns bridges; re-signs with RCR

The Charlotte Observer and NASCAR Scene are reporting that Kevin Harvick has signed a contract extension to stay with Richard Childress Racing.

Harvick and Richard Childress will hold a press conference Saturday at 3:15 p.m. ET, presumably to announce the signing.

The terms of the deal are unclear at this point, as is the sponsor situation for the No. 29 car. It was announced earlier that Shell/Pennzoil was leaving RCR to go to Kurt Busch and Penske Racing.

This is in stark contrast to the report a month ago that quoted an anonymous source that said that Harvick had burned all of his bridges at Childress and that he was unlikely to return. That report prompted Harvick to unleash a journalism lecture on the media present at Talladega.

Harvick declined to answer questions on the contract at Friday's press conference.
