Strikeforce hypes an 'unsigned' fight: Werdum v. Overeem

As far as fight press conferences go, Strikeforce's on Saturday night was more like boxing than UFC. There were a ton of guest promotion fighters and even more from outside the promotion. Strikeforce's Scott Coker had his heavyweight king Alistair Overeem come to the stage and they talked about the champ's next fight. Overeem hasn't officially signed anything but he said on Friday that June 6 is the date in St. Louis. Fabricio Werdum was in the room and didn't enjoy when Overeem called him.

Werdum then approached the stage:

"It's going to be a real pleasure, if the opportunity comes to fight, Alistair Overeem."

Overeem responded by saying he can't wait to get his hands on Werdum again.

"I'll take his other arm home," said Werdum. "And then the third time it'll be hard to fight him with no arms."

Werdum beat Overeem via kimura in 2006 on a Pride card. Coker told Cage Writer during the ESPNRadio1100 postfight show, that in spite of what looked like a pitch for the fight, no contracts have been signed.

The UFC released Werdum back in November. If he inks a deal, it's a good free agent pick up for Strikeforce.
