Ronda Rousey wants Holly Holm rematch in 2016

It's now known that Ronda Rousey won’t be fighting on July 2 at UFC 200, but that hasn't exactly quelled the questions about her future.

Adding to the mystery surrounding Rousey's fighting ambitions – or potential lack there of – is the fact Rousey has been mostly media silent since her knockout loss to Holly Holm late last year.

Rousey is currently off filming some Hollywood movies, and on Saturday she will become the first mixed martial artist to host the legendary late-night comedy show, "Saturday Night Live." But as nice as it is for the sport, and Rousey, to get so much mainstream love, fans are eagerly anticipating word of her next in-ring challenge.

In a brief interview with TMZ, Rousey had a confident response when she was asked when she would be fighting again.

“Sometime later in the year,” Rousey said. “They haven’t told me any exact date or location yet.”

With a superstar the level of Rousey, it’s not unthinkable she would be able to determine when and where her next fight will take place. When asked if Rousey gets to determine those kinds of things, she explained, “It’s a decision we’re all going to make together. I’m kind of waiting to hear back on what options they will give me.”

The ‘options’ Rousey are referring to most certainly are in reference to the date and location of her next fight. Because Rousey, like everyone else in the world, knows there is only one fight to make.

“Of course, that’s all I want to do,” she said when asked if her next fight would be a rematch against Holm. “What did you think we were talking about, man?”

Before Holm can meet Rousey in their rematch, she will square off against top contender Miesha Tate (a woman Rousey has defeated on two different occasions) on March 5 in Las Vegas at UFC 197. If Holm can hold off the dangerous veteran, then expect Rousey-Holm 2 sometime in the fall. However, if Tate spoils the party, all bets are off and the UFC loses the championship rematch the whole world is waiting to see.
