'Babalu' wins, asks for bout with Hendo at Strikeforce: LA

Renato "Babalu" Sobral won a competitive match over Robbie Lawler at Strikeforce: Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater. Babalu took the unanimous decision 29-28 on all three judges' cards

The first round of the bout was close, with Babalu showing off his wrestling skills. Babalu was aggressive in the second round, both with strikes and grappling. He showed no signs of wearing down heading into the third, while Lawler began to look tired. Sobral controlled much of the round, until the final minute. That's when Lawler become aggressive, stalking down Sobral and throwing big strikes.

Though this bout was fought at the catchweight of 195 pounds, it did have title implications. Since Sobral won, the expectation is that he would face "King" Mo Lawal, the Strikeforce light heavyweight champ. However, Lawal and Sobral are training partners. Sobral sidestepped the question of whether he would fight his good friend by asking for a bout with Dan Henderson.

'Cyborg' with quick KO of Zaromskis

Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos moved down to welterweight, and found a comfortable home there, knocking out Marius Zaromskis at 2:38 in the first round. Zaromskis tried to throw his trademark high kicks and flying knees, but Santos withstood every strike. Zaromskis tried a flying knee and Santos caught him with a right hook, sending Zaromskis to the ground.
