Rivals.com No. 1 recruit Da’Shawn Hand stops running back in his track, unleashes stunning suplex tackle
If there were any lingering questions why Da'Shawn Hand is the No. 1 senior recruit on the Rivals 100, perhaps this Friday night highlight might help provide the answer.
The Woodbridge (Va.) High senior defensive end treated Osbourn Park (Manassas, Va.) High's running back like a sack of potatoes, picking him up off the ground and flipping him over his right shoulder in a stunning move caught on tape by The Washington Post.
"I was surprised I picked him up, because I was sitting there and I grabbed him and I was just like, 'Hold on. Get back. Boom. Oohoohoo,'" Hand gleefully told the paper. "So, I mean, it was cool. Did you get that on camera? Oh, oh, oh, I gotta see it."
Hand dominated in all facets of the game, recording one of two blocked punts that were returned for touchdowns in a 26-22 victory against Osbourn Park over the weekend. As Hand described it, "Even though the score says it's close, it wasn't close at all."
He might have a childlike wonder about him, but the 6-foot-4, 256-pound beast of an athlete is a man among boys on the prep gridiron. He recorded 111 tackles in 11 games as a junior last season, including 28 tackles for losses and 16 sacks.
Punishing hits like Friday's suplex have made Hand the nation's most sought after recruit, and the 17-year-old recently trimmed his list to Alabama, Florida and Michigan.
