North Dakota's Joe Baker, the ridiculous buzzer-beater maker

After New Town High's Joe Baker made this ridiculous three-quarter-court shot to end the first quarter of North Dakota's Class B state quarterfinals, the announcers said, "That could be on ESPN Top 10, huh?"

They proved prophetic, as Baker's shot earned the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter Thursday night.

"When I shot it, I wasn’t expecting it to go in,” the New Town senior guard told WDAZ-TV of the buzzer-beating heave. “But after I put it up, it looked like it could go in. “I’ve never made one from that far out before. I’ve made some from halfcourt. But never from that far."

Unfortunately, the announcers weren't so prophetic when they added, "It just sets the tone for the rest of the game, doesn't it?" Rugby (N.D.) ultimately defeated New Town in overtime, 64-58.
