Is this the fastest hat trick in prep soccer history?

A Texas teenager scored what is being called the fastest hat trick in prep soccer history.

The National Federation of High School Associations doesn't keep such records, but Wichita Falls (Texas) High senior Daniel Tays' three goals in 91 seconds against Wolfforth Frenship over the weekend is pretty damn impressive, especially once you consider they all reportedly came in the final two minutes of what was once a 1-0 game.

You've gotta love the woman in the video, who could only be the mother of an opposing player, encouraging Frenship as the lead is stretched to 4-0 in the blink of an eye. "That's OK," she yells. "Keep playing the game." Tays, apparently, was the only one listening.

To put Tays' accomplishment into perspective, the Guinness Book of World Records credits Tommy Ross with soccer's fastest hat trick. His three goals in 90 seconds during a 1964 match in Scotland has stood the test of time for 50 years. (Although, 20-year-old Englishman Alex Torr, who also has the greatest accompanying photo to any record-breaking sports story in history, apparently scored three goals in 70 seconds last year.)

Even more impressive, Tays also tallied a hat trick against Lubbock Monterey a day earlier, giving him a total of six in the two-day Wichita Falls Winter Cup. While the 5-foot-8, 155-pound forward deflected credit to his teammates, particularly Adrian Alvarez, who assisted on all three goals, his coach wouldn't hold back praise.

"I've never seen anything like it before, and probably won't ever again," Wichita Falls coach Patrick McCauley told MaxPreps. "Back-to-back hat tricks are rare, but the fact that one of those hat tricks took only 91 seconds is just insane. This is one of those moments in sports that you're fortunate you were there to witness, and it's definitely something I'll never forget."

If anybody can beat Tays' 91-second hat trick, we'd sure like to see it.
