Showdown, Week 33: Glover v. Howell
So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into tournaments, and because we're both inveterate gamblers who are one bad card from being out on the streets, Shane Bacon and I are playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight up. Victory over the other guy gets one point, victory in the tournament gets three points. (Double for the majors.) And when we burn a golfer, he's done for the year. This time around, we cool off from Atlanta Athletic Club at the Wyndham.
Bacon: I'm in a little bit of a slump, so the best thing to do is grow a playoff beard, and the best person to do that? Lucas Glover. The former major championship winner has never finished out of the top-24 here in six years, and besides his missed cut last week, he's having a pretty solid summer. Fear it!
Busbee: You know what I fear? That list below, because man, I've used up a lot of good players already. So I'm going with Charles Howell III, who's had a surprisingly consistent under-the-radar run, including a run of three top-5s in June and early July. Bring it home, Tripster.
