Man bets $1600 because he saw Rory McIlroy's face in a sweet roll

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Some gamblers betting on the winner of The Masters go with golfers riding a hot streak. Some back lefthanders, or strong putters, or players who have survived the back-nine crucible. And some ... well, some pick more insane reasons.

Meet Rob Price, a UK college professor who decided to bet €1200, about $1,600, on Rory McIlroy after he thought he saw the Northern Irish golfer's face in his sweet roll. Yes, seriously. And if Rory wins at 11-1 odds, Price will win nearly $20,000. Not a bad haul.

“It’s got to be a sign," Price said. "Rory’s face on a piece of food from his girlfriend’s (Caroline Wozniacki) home country. My mates have had a giggle and think I’m mad, but if I pocket €14,400, I’ll be the one laughing."

It's not the most ridiculous show of support we've seen this year; the Kentucky fan who had "2014 National Champions" tattooed onto his leg before the NCAA tournament still holds that honor. Our problem is that this sweet roll looks less like Rory and more like another golfer with a great chance to win, Jason Dufner:

Yes, friends, this is what happens when Tiger's not playing in the Masters.
