First donuts, now burgers: Phil Mickelson, fine food connoisseur

Phil Mickelson is doing his very best to make the entire non-golfing-elite planet fall in love with him. Just weeks after going to an Augusta Krispy Kreme wearing his green jacket (His explanation: "It was a little cold out, so I grabbed a jacket"), he dropped a prime bit of good PR on the Five Guys burger chain.

When asked what he would be doing after Saturday's round, he responded,

What I've done the last five days, go to Five Guys Burgers. That place is so good. I can't stop going there. This will be my sixth day in a row. I grew up on In-n-Out. I thought that was the best burger until I had Five Guys. That is hands down the best burger I've ever had.

Wow! That's some fine publicity there from a guy who once said he'd like to serve In-n-Out Burgers at his Masters Champions Dinner. Perhaps too fine. On his Twitter page, Stewart Cink had the following assessment: "keep in mind PM owns SoCal rights to FiveGuys. Biased argument?"

Eh, maybe yes, maybe no. If the guy owns a piece of Five Guys, he's got the right to promote it, yes? But to this point, I've been unable to confirm whether he owns that piece or not. For now, let's just file this one under "Mickelson, Phil: Dining preferences (common folk)."

Oh, and for the record, I'm with him on Five Guys over In-N-Out, though I take The Varsity in Atlanta over them both. You?
