Bucks’ Brandon Jennings already planning exit?

US PresswireThe Milwaukee Bucks currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. There is still a lot of this short season left and Brandon Jennings could help the Bucks make a strong push.

Whatever happens, though, it is extremely doubtful that the third-year point guard will sign an extension with the team this summer as he is eligible to do. Jennings told ESPN that he wants to not box himself in and be available the following summer when the 22-year-old can be a free agent.

"I am going to keep my options open, knowing that the time is coming up," Jennings told ESPN. "I'm doing my homework on big-market teams."

However, Bucks fans shouldn't give up just yet on the dream of having Jennings as a building block for the long-term: "I'm not saying I won't [sign an extension with the Bucks] and I'm not saying I will," he said, ESPN reports. "I'm just keeping my options open."

It's kind of funny to hear Jennings, who backed out of playing for the University of Arizona so he could go play in Italy, talk about doing his homework. Jennings, who was picked 10th overall in the 2009 draft, is averaging 18.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season.

Another 20 % shooting night. They'll love him in a big market. Starting to look like T.J. Ford.

For a career 37% shooter, I dont know who he thinks is going to sign him?

Maybe a team with point guard that shoots less accurately than that (Derek Fisher, Lakers).

I am thinking he shoots a lot because his teammates stink.

Trade everybody and get a bunch of picks. Get Kohl to sell the team to someone who gives a crap. And start this sorry a$$ed franchise all over. Or just sell the #$%$ team to someone anyone who gives a crap and move them. Kohl gave up on this team years ago but hangs onto it like some dusty old stamp collection you look at a couple of times a year. The NBA is set up worse than MLB when it comes to who has a realistic chance to win a championship let alone a playoff series or two. And now it is even worse. The inmates are running the asylum. This will guaruntee that no team in the mid-west will win an NBA championship ever again. Unless your team plays in a huge market or on one of the coasts you will never see a title in your city again. Aint gonna happen.

Jackson is the one that needs to go not Jennings.I agree with the gentleman Ted Geisel.Trade Jackson for Gasol from the Lakers. At least he wants to play.Jackson hasn't shown me anything since he came to the Bucks. He is just taking up space and then he says he wants a contract extension.Jackson, you don't deserve one because you aren't performing to your level, that is why you haven't recieved one.Start playing like you did for other teams then maybe you'll get one.But as far as I'm concerened, you don't deserve one and I hope the Bucks do trade you when the deadline approches. You won't be missed at all.I hope they trade you some team like Toronto and make your life even more miserable!!!!

As a Bucks fan, I'd love to have Jennings sign an extension, but if he is going to look up to a d-bag like Stephen Jackson for direction, trade him for Gasol.

To the Celtics? Nope, the big three there hogged the payroll all these years and they were not able to get any good players to fill the gaps of old age..............see how the Celtics gasp for air in the final quarter and minutes when they could win? Nope. And just when other players on the team could get some experience their coach lets the old foggies play 40 minutes to try and win the game which they lose anyway and the team has no one to fill the places of those three money hogs in the future. Complete dismantling of the Celtics coming up..................Jennings would not go there. He would go to the Minneapolis Lakers way before Boston. Its warmer in L.A. He has a better opportunity there. More star power. The rich get richer and the big three in Boston have kept the riches to themselves at the expense of a better season and a possible 18th championship. Do those three guys ever think of that?

Why do fans make such a big deal when players want to leave? People who are not professional athletes leave their home town or smaller cities for a more exciting life in the big city all the time. You can be a salesperson, Attorney, Nurse or any other profession. Many younger College graduate (Jenning's age group) want to try their luck and experience life in LA, NYC, Chicago etc etc etc all the time. My neighbor is a 32 years old BMW salesman who moved from Durham, NC to LA because he wanted to see what it is like. So if Jennings feel that he will have a better time in another city then it should be his choice to live/work where ever he likes (provide a team can sign him).

Lakers, do you read this? Why do I see a couple 1s round picks for Jennings as a decent price for this player.....OK, it'd be a steal!

trade jackson and anything else you can to make a run this year,he'll stay in milwaukee if you're a playoff contender. oh ya and don't forget all the extra cash the bucks will throw at the "young buck". how soon we forget all the money wasted on micheal redd!!! and the only people that think wisconsin sucks are people who haven't lived thier!

Here we go again, another big ego trying to leave a small market team. The Bucks can offer Jennings the most money and he still does show any commitment to the team that gambled and drafted him in the lottery even tough his play overseas was terrible. And the Bucks are actually a playoff squad, it is not like the are losing games. At least Lebron did not try to leave after his rookie contract.

Why is it people talk about athletes only making decisions based on money and then turn around and rip them on the fact that they leave a team for decisions that aren't financial.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't want to play on a mediocre team in Wisconsin either.

This is a business. Teams do not have loyalty to players. Players should not have loyalty to teams.

Just as long as he goes somewhere!! jennings is the "Poor mans" version of former Buck Quinn Buckner, both never saw a jump shot they didn't like, Shoot first, Pass only if there are no open shots, or they cannot make up a shot! !Very poor quality Team Player!! (Ask any other Buck team player!!) hopefully he will go anywhere!! and he can also take, s jackson, d gooden, j brockman, l sanders, with him!!!! ( So-called Coach Skiles also should go!!) Promote S Moncrief to HC!!!

He's from LA..If you were raised in prodominetly NICE weather, who the h3ll would EVER want to live in WI? I can understand if you are from somewhre that may get "some" snow, but seriously, who cares about the "most money" or "they took a gamble" on you, go to where you are comfortable! Miami, LA, Suns, or possibly Dallas..
