Zeeland East star athletes Owen Durham, Brenston Brown make college decisions
ZEELAND - Two Zeeland East athletes are taking their talents to the college level.
This week, swimmer Owen Durham signed with Davenport University and baseball player Brenston Brown signed with Concordia University.
Durham has been an all-state performer in the pool multiple times and been one of the top backstrokers in the state.
He will head to the NCAA Division II program in Caledonia.
"I chose Davenport for many reasons, but one of the main ones is that it just felt like somewhere I could see myself," Durham said. "Getting to meat with the coaches and the team was super fun and it felt like a family. I am super excited to continue swimming for another four years."

Brown was an all-conference catcher that helped the Chix to their best season in school history. He takes that success to the NAIA program in Ann Arbor.
"Part of the reason I decided to commit to Concordia was the camaraderie I saw when I went to practice with all the guys on my visit and the way the coach runs the team. He doesn't run it like a college team. He runs it like a professional team, even having a major league minor-league team or the varsity and JV but he calls a majors and minors because it's more like the pros which I really like," Brown said. "This means a lot to me because I've worked so hard for well over 10 years to see all that hard work finally paying off for me to go play at a championship winning school is a dream come true to say the least."
