If you want your toddler to be a college football player, you can start dreaming that he’ll take part in a two-game series between Clemson and Oklahoma.

The two schools announced a home-and-home series for the 2035 and 2036 seasons. Yes, those seasons are 16 and 17 years away, respectively. The seniors who will play in that 2035 game are currently in preschool and the freshmen who will play in that 2036 game are 2 years old. Or maybe even younger.

The first game will be at Clemson and the second game will be in Norman.

"As we've consistently demonstrated for many years, we have a strategic scheduling philosophy in creating the proper balance between the non-conference and conference portions of our regular season schedules," Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said in a statement. "Our approach has served us well over the years, but to make it possible we have to work many years in advance with programs who share a similar philosophy. We're excited to have a series with Clemson University and I'm grateful to my colleague Dan Radakovich for collaborating on what will be both a great matchup of premier programs and a fantastic game day experience for our fans."

While Oklahoma and Clemson are both premier football programs now, there’s a decent chance that one or both may not be premier programs in the mid-2030s. A lot can change in college football. Maybe players will be paid salaries by the time the series begins. Maybe triple-option wishbone offenses will be all the rage once again. Maybe everything will be the same and Nick Saban will still be coaching Alabama at the age of 83 while Bill Snyder is in his fourth stint at Kansas State at the age of 95.

In case you were wondering, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney will be 65 when the 2035 season begins. Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley will be 52.

“This series against Oklahoma is yet another example of our longstanding commitment to adding another Power Five opponent to our schedule beyond our annual rivalry game with South Carolina,” Radokovich said.

The series includes, by far, the furthest games scheduled into the future by both schools. Clemson’s next-furthest non-conference game scheduled is a 2026 game against LSU while Oklahoma has a 2030 game set against Nebraska.
