Wyomissing's David Giles named Berks Athlete of the Year in boys cross country

Nov. 13—Wyomissing junior David Giles has been named Berks Athlete of the Year in boys cross country, the BCIAA announced Monday.

Giles headlines the eight-member All-Berks team, as selected by the league's coaches.

He won the Berks Conference Run, finished third in District 3 Class 2A, and came in 20th in PIAA Class 2A. His time of 16:47 at states was the best of any Berks runner in any classification.

Wilson senior Elijah Stoudt was selected to the team for the third straight season.

Exeter had three picks: senior Slater Von Stetten and Jason Nester, and sophomore Chase Choudhry. Von Stetten and Choudhry are repeat selections.

Gov. Mifflin had two selections: senior Zack Zerbe and junior Garrett Hyneman. Zerbe is a repeat pick.

Oley Valley sophomore Ryan Gourley rounds out the team.

Exeter's Todd Witkowski, who led the Eagles to a 15-0 dual-meet record and the county title, was voted the Coach of the Year.
