Wrestling roundup: Osakis Silverstreaks knock off Benson Braves, 48-21

Feb. 8—OSAKIS — Osakis got the maximum from each one of its wins against Benson on the wrestling mat.

Hosting a triangular on Thursday, the Silverstreaks scored falls in each of its eight wins against Benson. That led to a 48-21 victory.

Adrian Young (172 pounds) and Johnny Kobbermann (285) were winners by fall for the Braves. Gavin Olson (114), Max Nygaard (127) and Darin Hippe (145) notched decisions for Benson.

It was the regular-season finale for the Braves. They now turn their attention to the Section 5A team tournament, which gets underway Thursday, Feb. 15 at the high seeds, which have yet to be announced. The semifinals and finals take place Saturday, Feb. 17 at Minneota.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City recorded five falls in beating Paynesville at Grove City.

Winners by fall for the Falcons included Edwyn Gonzalez at 133 pounds, Jevon Williams at 160, Ethan Whitcomb at 172, Isaiah Renne at 215 and Riley Johnson at 285.

Paynesville's Roman Roberg at 114 and Peyton Hemmesch at 189 each won by fall.

Team United picked up pins from Eli Olson at 107 pounds, Ben Gunlogson at 127, Kameron Sather at 152, Zach DeBeer at 215 and Brady Rhode at 285 to beat Paynesville at Grove City.

Paynesville's pins came from Roman Roberg at 114 and Mason McNab at 121.

Gage Wilke scored a fall at 152 pounds and Jasen Jansen added a decision at 285 for Quad County — MACCRAY, Renville County West and Yellow Medicine East — in a loss to host Minneota at the Vikings' triangular.

Gage Wilke got his second fall of the night for Quad County in a loss to Pipestone at Minneota.

Wilke won his 152-pound match in the second period.
