Women motivate, support Latinas ahead of Meck Mile

Runners will fill Memorial Stadium in Elizabeth this weekend for Charlotte’s newest road race, the Meck Mile.

Diana Sanchez is one of those runners. She’s the founder of Thrive Amiga, a group that aims to unite Hispanic women to exercise and develop health-conscious habits.

“When I started running I didn’t see anyone who looked like me in the run clubs or anywhere that I participated in,” Zhenia Martinez, a runner with Thrive Amiga, told Telemundo’s Emi Darquea.

In the video at the top of this webpage, see how Sanchez is motivating and supporting Latinas on and off the course.

>>Channel 9 will also broadcast a special one-hour show starting at 7 p.m. Saturday. You can watch on-air and online with our apps or at WSOCTV.com.
