WNC Week 11 high school baseball power rankings: Roberson finishes regular season No. 1

Both the NCHSAA and NCISAA regular seasons have wrapped up, and teams now await their playoff opponents. NCHSAA brackets are set to be released Monday.

Five of last week's 10 teams suffered at least one loss, leading to two new teams and plenty of movement in the rankings.

Here are the final regular season Western North Carolina high school baseball power rankings.

1. Roberson (20-4)

By sweeping Asheville High and clinching the Mountain Athletic Conference last week, the Rams earned the No. 1 seed in the NCHSAA 4A West playoffs and will have homefield advantage throughout. Coach Eric Filipek said playing at home will be a big benefit to the Rams.

Last week: No. 1.

2. West Henderson (19-4)

With the Mountain 7 Conference title on the line, the Falcons traveled to North Henderson and stole a win, then mercy-ruled the Knights at home. West Henderson will be one of the top seeds in the NHCSAA 3A West playoffs.

Last week: No. 2.

3. Tuscola (17-5)

The Mountaineers made a strong push late in the season for the Mountain 7 title but fell just short. Their 17 wins are the program's most since 2012.

Last week: No. 3.

4. North Henderson (16-8)

The Knights got swept by No. 2 West Henderson, but one more win will officially give them their winningest season since at least 2007.

Last week: No. 4.

5. Asheville Christian Academy (13-7)

The Lions won eight in a row to end the regular season and earned the No. 6 seed in the NCISAA 3A playoffs. They have a first-round bye and await the winner of Grace Christian School and Calvary Day School.

Last week: No. 7.

6. Hayesville (15-3)

Hayesville went undefeated in Smoky Mountain Conference play for the first time since 2014. Its 15-game win streak was snapped against Brevard to end the regular season.

Last week: No. 5.

7. Swain County (13-4)

The Maroon Devils finished the season with eight consecutive wins after losing to Hayesville. Seniors Carter Hayes and Bradyn Ruais both batted .444 for Swain County.

Last week: No. 8.

8. Asheville High (13-10)

Asheville's quick climb up the rankings to No. 6 took a hit after getting swept by No. 1 Roberson last week. The Cougars still likely earned a high seed in the NCHSAA 4A playoffs thanks to their nonconference slate.

Last week: No. 6.

9. Pisgah (11-8)

In a tough Mountain 7 Conference, the Bears earned a fourth-place finish and snagged a victory over No. 3 Tuscola.

Last week: Unranked.

10. Enka (13-10)

Only one of Enka's 10 losses on the season came to a team not in the final top 10 ranking – a 5-4 loss at Brevard. The Jets finished the season with three straight wins to take third in the Mountain Athletic Conference.

Last week: Unranked.
