Wisconsin secures oral commitment from running back Dilin Jones of Maryland for 2024 class

Wisconsin’s staff expects Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi, the team’s top two tailbacks, to pursue their respective NFL dreams after the 2023 season.

And with no proven player behind that duo, the Badgers are looking to load up on running backs for the 2024 class.

Luke Fickell and his staff entered the week with two running backs committed for the class, and on Friday, received a commitment from a third, Dilin Jones of Olney, Maryland.

Jones, 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, joins Gideon Ituka of Maryland and Darrion Dupree of Illinois in the class.

Jones reportedly held more than two dozen offers but eventually chose UW over Maryland. Seven Big Ten schools offered Jones, including Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State. He averaged 9.3 yards per carry and 134.0 yards per game as a junior for Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.

Jones is the 20th known commitment for UW's class.
