Wisconsin freshman center to take temporary leave of absence

Wisconsin freshman center Gus Yalden is taking a temporary leave of absence, according to the Wisconsin basketball program.

Badgers head coach Greg Gard said yesterday Yalden left to “address a personal family matter.” The former top recruit is to remain enrolled at Wisconsin and continue to receive support from the team and staff, but will not be present for any team activities.

“We are in full support of Gus and will always be here for him and his family,” Gard said. “Gus is part of the Wisconsin basketball family and even though he won’t be on the court with us right now, we’ll always do everything we can to help him. We look forward to his return.”

Yalden joined the Badgers as a four-star recruit in the class of 2023. He was ranked as the No. 122 player in the class, No. 17 center and No. 5 recruit from his home state of Indiana.
