MSU takes advantage of Braelon Allen fumble, win game in double OT

The Spartans clinched the win on a 27-yard pass from Payton Thorne to Jayden Reed in the corner of the end zone on a third-and-12 play. But before Michigan State's offense had a chance to win the game, its defense did the job by forcing an Allen fumble on the first play of UW's second possession of overtime. Jacoby Windmon forced the turnover and Dashaun Mallory recovered the ball.

Final: Michigan State 34, Wisconsin 28.

Graham Mertz hits Chimere Dike for 25 TD. We're still tied in OT!

On its first possession of overtime Wisconsin tied the game for the second time since the start of the fourth quarter, but first Mertz got lucky when Michigan State couldn't corral what appeared to be a sure-fire interception. Two plays later Mertz and Dike connected for 25-yard score. Nate Van Zelst's extra point tied the game.

UW ties game with fourth down TD from Graham Mertz to Keontez Lewis

The Badgers picked the right time for their best drive of the game. Down a touchdown, they moved 52 yards in nine plays and took 5:11 off the clock on the way to tying the game.

Big plays loomed large on the possession. Isaac Guerendo had a 45-yard kickoff return to the UW 48. Skyler Bell had a 27-yard gain on a jet sweep that set up a first and goal at the 8. And finally Mertz hit Lewis in the corner of the end zone on a fourth and goal play from the 3 yard line.

Nate Van Zelst's extra point evened the score with 1:55 remaining.

Payton Thorne, Keon Coleman team up for MSU go-ahead score

Thorne hit Coleman for a 27-yard scoring play with 7:23 left in the game to give the Spartans a 21-14 lead. Key to the drive were two pass interference calls, the second coming against Ricardo Hallman on a fourth and 4 play that gave Michigan State a first down at the UW 29. Based on the replay, the pass interference call on Hallman appeared questionable.

Score: Michigan State 21, Wisconsin 14.

TD run by Michigan State's Elijah Collins, UW 14, MSU 14, 54 seconds left in third quarter

Collins' run completed an eight-play, 97-yard touchdown drive  that was Michigan State's longest touchdown drive of the season. The key was a 72-yard pass from Payton Thorne to Maliq Carr that was the Spartans' longest pass play of the season. That pasgave Michigan State a first down to the UW 12.

Braelon Allen scores second TD, UW takes 14-7 lead, second quarter

Allen's 1-yard run capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive that took 4:59 off the clock. Fifty-one of those yards came on the ground. Fourteen came off a near-scoring run by Graham Mertz, who was stopped just short of the goa line. The Badgers went to big from there and Allen, ran behind the left side of the line, which on this play featured Jack Nelson, Trey Wedig and Tyler Beach, give the Badgers the lead.

That's 942 pounds of humanity. It should be no surprise that Allen scored easily.

Score: Wisconsin 14, Michigan State 7, 10:21 second quarter.

Michigan State running back Jalen Berger (8) breaks away from Wisconsin safety Titus Toler (41) for a 12-yard touchdown run during the first half on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, in East Lansing, Michigan. Berger began his college career at Wisconsin.

Kamo'i Latu, a junior safety, and Ricardo Hallman, a redshirt freshman cornerback, wrapped up Elijah Collins for a 1-yard loss on fourth and goal from the 1.
