Winter storm forces schedule changes for Iowa City high school sports

Harsh road conditions and nearly a foot of snow in the last 24 hours in the Iowa City area have forced a variety of changes to the athletic calendar.

Here are some key high school activities that have been postponed or canceled as of Tuesday evening:

  • Clear Creek Amana's girls and boys basketball games against Mount Vernon scheduled for Tuesday were moved to Thursday, Jan. 11.

  • Iowa City High canceled all activities on Monday, Jan. 8 and Tuesday, Jan. 9.

  • Iowa City Liberty moved their girls basketball game against Dubuque Senior from Tuesday, Jan. 9 to Monday, Feb. 5. The Liberty boys basketball game scheduled for Tuesday against Dubuque Senior was postponed.

  • Iowa City Regina's girls and boys basketball games against Mid-Prairie, initially set for Tuesday, Jan. 9, were rescheduled to Thursday, Jan. 11. The doubleheader against North Linn, originally scheduled for Thursday, is postponed to a future date.

  • Iowa City West will make up their postponed girls basketball games against Solon on Monday, Jan.15. The boys team will now host Dubuque Hempstead on Saturday, Feb. 10. The girls team will play at Hempstead on Monday, Jan. 15. Boys swimming against Iowa City High was moved to Thursday, Jan.11.

  • Solon's boys and girls basketball doubleheader against South Tama, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed to a future date.
